Avian Wonders

From powerful raptors to busy hummingbirds, birds are all around us. With over 400 species, they are, by far, the most diverse group of vertebrates in Pennsylvania! Learn how they fly, how to safely feed them, how to help conserve them, and more!

Armored Survivors

Turtles, a group of reptiles that are older than the dinosaurs, and yet now, are one of the world’s most threatened groups of animals. Come learn about turtles, what they are, their weird anatomy, the species found in Pennsylvania and beyond, and most importantly, learn what you can do to help ensure turtles continue survive for years to come!

Marvelous Amphibians

Take a glimpse into the secretive world of your slimy, pond loving neighbors. From warty toads to friendly newts, spend the day learning about amphibians, their diversity, their amazing and often crazy adaptations, and why they are disappearing at an alarming rate, as well as why you should be concerned and how you can help!

Aquatic Ecosystems

Learn about what lurks just beneath the surface in Pennsylvania’s creeks, rivers, ponds, and lakes! Let your students dive into the world of turtles, amphibians, fish, and macroinvertebrates, all while learning about the importance of protecting our water ways and how monitoring our native wildlife can cue us in to the health of these important ecosystems.

Invertebrates

Invertebrates are the little guys who often go unnoticed and underappreciated. Despite this, these guys are the backbone of every ecosystem; either as the base of the food chain, decomposers, pest control, and as pollinators. Join us in learning about insects, arachnids, and the other creepy crawlies that make our ecosystems tick.

Wildlife 911: Wildlife Rehabber for a Day

Aark is the state’s largest wildlife rehab, seeing over 5,000 animals annually. So, what goes into working at a wildlife rehabilitation center every day? Come find out! From squirrels to box turtles, see what it takes to care for sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife.

Danger Noodle. Nope Rope. Angry Spaghetti. Snakes are a fascinating yet misunderstood, and often disliked, group of animals. Give these limbless reptiles a chance and come learn about them, how they get by without legs and feet, are they really dangerous to us, and if they actually deserve their reputation.
